A final crack of his whip ripped the Luger from the German officer’s hand. Coiling it up Indy attached it to his belt, walked up to the shocked Nazi and tilted his hat nonchalantly.
“Vat have you done?” asked Hauptsturmfuhrer Schteck, staring wild-eyed at Indy, “Now ve vill all die!”
Indy snorted with derision. “No,” he said, “you need to work on your translations. Opening the sarcophagus won’t kill us all, the prophecy foretells peace and care for all men.” He paused, looked at the evil Deutchlander before him and added, “Even you.”
Jumping down to where his fat Egyptian friend waited for him Indy took one end up the sarcophagus. Together they heaved mightily, forcing the lid to slide sideways where gravity sent it crashing to the floor.
Schteck looked down in horror. As he had predicted the sarcophagus was not empty; an ancient Egyptian Mummy was not only in there, it was starting to move.
Indy stepped back in shock, his friend running from the chamber in fear. “Arise Rehema, be welcome back to the living,” called Indy, “The world needs your compassion.” Looking up at his defeated foe he quietly added to himself, “Especially Schteck.”
Rehema had by then stepped from the sarcophagus, bandages hiding her features. She looked up at the cabbage eater then back down and across to Indy.
“My compassion will reign supreme,” she promised, “A mother I was, and a mummy I am. All people of the world will be my babies now.”
She gestured at both men, soft incantations beneath her breath neither of them could understand, then laughed as they both changed in a puff of sweet smelling powder.
Looking down at Indy, Schteck could see he’d lost the whip, his hat, the dirty shirt and his trousers. Instead he was now sat on the ground in stunned surprise, looking at a large fluffy diaper forcing his thighs apart. Schteck found his legs giving way then he too was sat on the ground, his fall cushioned by the astonishingly thick diaper he himself now wore.
Rehema looked at her new baby boys. She’d never seen diapers before but instantly grasped their purpose. “Come to Mummy,” she commanded, and smiled kindly as both former enemies started to crawl towards her. Just two for now, but soon many more, and eventually, yes. She would mother the world.
